Irelands most
Northerly point. This tall building is known locally
as "the tower" and was constructed in1908
by the Admiralty and later used as a Lloyds Signal
Station. To the north-east Inistrahull Island can be
seen. Its first lighthouse was put into operation
in 1813, and its light flashes every 30 seconds. On
a clear day the hills of Jura and Islay (Scottish
Islands)can also be seen.
The nearby Wee House of Malin,
set in a cliff, was once a hermit's cell and is said
to have been the home of St Muirdealach.
