This spectacular headland is Ireland's
most northerly point. On clear days the promontory gives distant
views of the Scottish Islands, while in stormy weather the seas
boil ferociously at its feet.
Its highest point at 362ft is known as Bamba's Crown after one
of the pagan queens of pre Christian Ireland. Adventurous walkers
can explore the rock formations of 'Hells Hole' and the rock cut
cell known as the 'Wee house of Malin'. Monks used to assemble
on the shoreline here each year to bathe naked in the sea and
wash away their sins.
